Heartland Healthcare Services Celebrates 25 Years
Happy Anniversary Heartland!
We all know the adage that ‘time flies.’ And we sure feel that here as we celebrate Heartland Healthcare Services of Toledo’s 25th anniversary.
So much has happened in that time!
The History
We opened in July of 1994 and by September that year, we shipped out our first totes of medications to contracted long term care facilities. We’ve welcomed new pharmacists to our team, and wished others a happy retirement. We’ve seen breakthroughs in medication therapies and applauded legislation that allows our industry to give better care to patients.
The last 25 years has seen amazing collaborations and partnerships develop with businesses like HCR ManorCare, and ProMedica Toledo Hospital. And we’ve opened pharmacies in Florida, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.
If we can provide nurses with the medications and equipment they need, through a simple straightforward system, in a way that is trackable, compliant, conveniently timed, accurate, and cost-saving, then patients are better cared for and families are better served.
That’s why we listen to the nurses we work with. We hear about their processes and the uniqueness of their facility’s day-to-day. We work to provide services that align with those unique needs; to develop into a real partner, not just simply a drop-and-go provider.

Serving Nurses

Celebration Station
We take enormous pride in our work, and it shows in our success! And so it made sense to celebrate this milestone with the team that we can attribute our successes to. We started by decorating throughout the building to elicit a sense of excitement and high energy.
And we got our good friends at Shorty’s Barbecue to serve up a delectable lunch of bbq pork, chicken, cole slaw, mac-n-cheese, and rolls.
It was so good, the napkins got used only after licking every bit of barbeque right off our fingers!
The team was entertained by the “Guess Who?” wall displaying childhood pictures of those who have been with us for 20 or more years. And we used photos taken throughout the years of company outings and fun events to imbue nostalgia and showcase those ‘then and now’ moments that pay tribute to how far we’ve come.
No party is complete without party favors, so our guests were treated to pop-sockets, flashlights, small screwdriver kits, chip clips, pens, and even some yo-yo’s!
Then, Now, and the Future
Listening to stories told as everyone reminisced was the best part of the day. Stories of Heartland, the business; Heartland, the people; and the heart of our pharmacy – the long term care facilities, people, and patients we serve.
The camaradarie was palpable. We really do have the best of the best when it comes to employees in any department!
